The esteemed Oxford English Dictionary has validated the world of Harry Potter by adding a new definition of the word Muggle to online edition of the Oxford English Dictionary (www.OED.com) along with more than 2,200 new and revised entries. The definition reads:

Muggle, n. In the fiction of J. K. Rowling: a person who possesses no magical powers. Hence in allusive and extended uses: a person who lacks a particular skill or skills, or who is regarded as inferior in some way

Other definitions of muggle include those from the 12th Century ("A tail resembling that of a fish") through the 1930s ("a marijuana cigarette; a joint").
